Physical Intervention

Description

Physical intervention training is often included within the SIA Door supervisor course, but the security industry is not the only application for it. Bastion have delivered this course to a wide range of industries, including retail, care, hospitals and to lone workers. The course includes the learning of physical restraints which can be used to prevent harm to yourself or others, breakaways, techniques used to safely escape potentially dangerous situations and the law, the use of force, what is deemed reasonable in a court of law and what restraints can and cannot be used in certain scenarios. Perhaps more importantly, this course focuses heavily on the understanding of emotions in hostile or dangerous situations, and although the course is practical and involves physical training of techniques, there will be periods of theoretical learning on how the mind works with regards to thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
